The fabled hotel has been the setting for hundreds of lavish events, including Truman Capote’s 1966 “Black and White Ball” to honor Washington Post publisher, Kay Graham. Capote said he chose The Plaza “because it has the only beautiful ballroom left in New York.” Other illustrious galas and events include countless movie premieres and Mick Jagger’s 50th birthday party in 1993. The Plaza is home to six flexible breakout spaces housed on its fourth floor. These spaces are completely customizable, allowing our event staff to design them to suit your meeting or conference. These breakout spaces can host small groups of just 10 up to large meetings and conferences of 500 — and every meeting size in between. As a result, there’s a space for everyone in The Plaza Hotel’s breakout areas.
Venues for large meetings, conferences, and events do not stop on our fourth floor, however. Our spacious Grand Ballroom, located on the third floor, boasts a storied history, as it played host to many landmark events over the years. Today, the Grand Ballroom can be reserved for meetings and receptions. It can seat 500 guests for a dinner and 1,000 guests for a cocktail-style reception and offers 4,800 square feet of space.
The Terrace Room, located on the second floor, features some of The Plaza’s most distinctive architecture, with decor inspired by the Palace of Versailles. This space also plays host to larger events, such as conferences. It offers 4,680 square feet of flexible event space.
For more intimate events, consider The Rose Club, which overlooks The Plaza’s lobby. This space hosts semi-private receptions for 15 to 50 guests and private receptions for up to 150. Finally, The Oak Room and Bar is also available for meetings or receptions and offers sweeping views of Central Park.
